Welcome to Ben Ryan Racing

I have been competitively racing since starting in shifter carts at age 13 (1995). I have also raced in vintage open wheel racing for three years and then transitioned into Spec Maita Racing which I took part in for 10 years. For the last 5 years I have also been taking part in time attack racing, ice racing and motorcycle racing. Lately I have been focused on the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. This is the second oldest motor car race in Untied Stated. Started in 1916 this year's race will be the 104th running of this storied event. I have been lucky enough to complete the race twice and in 2026 I am looking forward to standing on the summit again.

Two Men, One Car

The 1968 Road Runner Legacy Project, dubbed "Big Bird", is not your typical race build. It is a rolling tribute to fathers who shaped sons, the Mopar muscle that bonded them, and the dreams that still echo at 14,115 feet above sea level.

The Owner

Richard Tomlin still owns the original Road Runner he and his father once drag raced. That car is being reborn for the 2026 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Richard was just a teen when his father was tragically killed in the Oklahoma City bombing, but the memories they made in that car remain alive, and soon, they will roar back to life at the second oldest race in the United States

The Driver

Ben Ryan and his dad pulled their own Road Runner from a field when Ben was 14. They drag raced it together at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colorado. It was here, racing with his dad, that Ben's dreams of racing up Pikes Peak like his hero's, Bobby and Al Unser, Rod Millen, Mario Andretti, Parnelli Jones, Rick Mears and David Donner were born. Ben has conquered the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb twice already, but 2026 and the Road Runner Legacy Project is a dream come true.
